Thomas N. Johnson, President/Lead Ocularist

Thomas N. Johnson specializes in the fabrication of prosthetic eyes and scleral shells. At the age of twelve he was involved in a BB gun accident that resulted in the loss of his right eye. This experience has resulted in Mr. Johnson's ability to relate to the difficult psychological and physical challenges involved with losing an eye.

Alec C. Coffee,Ocularist

Alec Coffee joined Florida Ocular Prosthetics in 2012. He specializes in prosthetic eyes and maxillofacial prosthetics including auricular and nasal prosthetics. With Mr. Coffee's expertise in art and design he also custom makes a wide variety of specialty eyes from a design of the patient's choice.

Marcia Ciepielewski, Ocularist

Ocularist Marcia Ciepielewski. Marcia is from Brazil and is trilingual. She speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese. Marcia graduated from dental lab school in 1995 and began training as an Ocularist in 1996.

Her specialty is Pediatrics with concentration on Microphthalmia and Anophthalmia. Marcia sees Adult and Pediatric patients. Her experience for over 25 years makes her an asset to our office.

Prosthetic Eyes

A prosthetic eye is a custom-made ocular prosthesis designed to replace a missing or damaged eye for individuals who have undergone enucleation, evisceration, or have a blind, disfigured eye. It is crafted to closely resemble the natural eye, restoring symmetry and enhancing the wearer’s appearance.

Scleral Shells

A scleral cover shell prosthesis is a lightweight artificial eye designed to fit over a discolored or misshapen eye. This prosthesis fully conceals the affected eye, aiding in the restoration of its natural appearance. Our ocularists are committed to providing you with a comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, and naturally moving cover shell.

Custom Conformers

Conformers are temporary prosthetic devices designed to maintain the shape of the eye socket after surgery. By preventing the socket from shrinking or contracting, they play a crucial role in the healing process. Each conformer is customized to perfectly fit the individual's unique eye socket, ensuring optimal comfort and support during recovery.

Consultation & Evaluation

Ocularists carefully evaluate the individual's eye socket and facial structure, taking into account their specific needs. This thorough assessment helps determine the most appropriate prosthetic solution to ensure comfort and a natural appearance.

Specialty Eyes/Fun Eyes

A custom or specialty prosthetic eye is a meticulously crafted artificial eye designed to match the appearance and function of a natural eye. What ever you can dream, we can do!
